HSTS and Redirects: Why Your HTTP Request Never Reaches the Server

HSTS changes your redirect landscape in a subtle way: once a browser has seen the HSTS header for your domain, it will silently upgrade http:// URLs to https:// without ever sending a request to your server. That means your HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect stops firing for returning visitors.
